AuthenTec Management Team

 

AuthenTec was founded in 1998 by a small, dedicated team led by co-founders CEO Scott Moody and CTO Dale Setlak. The company has grown to more than 100 employee "players" worldwide and is led by the most experienced team of semiconductor, biometrics, and segment market professionals in the industry. Below are the members of AuthenTec's senior management team.

 

F. Scott MoodyF. Scott Moody – Chairman and CEO

F. Scott Moody is the company's co-founder, Chairman and CEO. Since founding AuthenTec, Mr. Moody has been responsible for its overall strategic direction, fund raising, business development, management of day-to-day operations and led the company's successful IPO in June of 2007 . The company has assembled a highly qualified team; introduced new products at a rapid pace; quickly ramped to production and developed strong relationships with industry partners. Prior to founding AuthenTec, Mr. Moody was the Vice President of a $200 million division of Harris' Semiconductor Sector (now Intersil). During his tenure at Harris, Mr. Moody led the very successful turnaround of several diverse operations including the repositioning of the commodity logic business business which was later successfully sold, the acquisition and repositioning of GE Microelectronics and the highly profitable turn around of the Group's Mil/Aero business. Mr. Moody began his career at Harris in 1980 where he gained experience in both the Semiconductor and Electronic Systems Sectors, including functional experience in engineering, manufacturing, program management, marketing and general management. Mr. Moody received a BS in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State in 1980 and an executive MBA from the University of Florida in 1987.

 

 

Larry CiacciaLarry Ciaccia - President

Larry Ciaccia is President of AuthenTec and oversees the company's worldwide marketing and sales operations. Mr. Ciaccia has 25-years experience in the semiconductor and wireless industry. Prior to joining AuthenTec, he was vice president and general manager of the Wireless Data and Networking Component Products unit at Conexant, the former PRISM WLAN business unit of Intersil. While at Intersil, he spearheaded the development and ramp up of the company’s PRISM 802.11 Wi-Fi initiative, and led the total business as general manager as it grew rapidly from $20 million to $200 million and 300 employees. In his role as vice president and general manager, Mr. Ciaccia also was instrumental in Intersil’s highly successful initial public offering and sale of the wireless business to GlobespanVirata, which subsequently merged with Conexant. Mr. Ciaccia began his career in 1980 with Harris Semiconductor, which later became Intersil -- and held numerous technical and management positions of increasing responsibility. Mr. Ciaccia earned a BSEE degree from Clarkson University in New York and an MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

 

 

Gary R. LarsenGary R. Larsen – CFO

Gary R. Larsen has been AuthenTec’s Chief Financial Officer since December 2006. From April 2005 to December 2006, Mr. Larsen served as CFO of Artesyn Technologies, Inc., a designer and supplier of power conversion and embedded board solutions. Mr. Larsen also served as Artesyn's Corporate Controller from May 1999 to April 2005. Prior to joining Artesyn, Mr. Larsen served in a variety of management positions with W.R. Grace & Co. Mr. Larsen began his career with KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP. Mr. Larsen received a BS degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA from Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. Mr. Larsen is a certified public accountant.

 

 

Dale SetlakDale Setlak - Co-Founder and CTO

Dale Setlak co-founded AuthenTec and is now the Vice President and Chief Technical Officer. In this role, Mr. Setlak is focused on the research for future AuthenTec products and is the source of many of the concepts underlying the company’s patents. Mr. Setlak brings 25 years of research and development experience to AuthenTec. Prior to AuthenTec, Mr. Setlak served as Senior Principal Engineer with Harris' Electronic Systems Sector. Prior to joining Harris in 1990, Mr. Setlak was Senior Systems Architect for factory automation at CTG-Scientific Systems Services and was the Senior Instrumentation Engineer on research and advanced power plant control systems at Babcock and Wilcox. Mr. Setlak holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University and an MS in Computer Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology.

 

 

Tony IantoscaTony Iantosca - Sr. Vice President, Worldwide Operations and Quality

Tony Iantosca is the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations & Qualtiy and oversees the China Development Center. He brings more than 15 years of semiconductor industry experience to AuthenTec. Prior to joining AuthenTec, Mr. Iantosca was a Director with Signetics where he led the effort of transitioning new, advanced semiconductor packaging designs into high volume, subcontract manufacturing on behalf of various customers. Prior to that, Mr. Iantosca was the Director of Operations for Catalyst Semiconductor. Prior to joining Catalyst, Mr. Iantosca served as Director of Offshore Manufacturing for Cypress, based in Thailand, where he led the transition of Cypress Semiconductor to direct and subcontract offshore manufacturing, that resulted in significant cost savings and quality improvements. Mr. Iantosca also held various management positions with Cypress in California, culminating with full responsibility for all San Jose test operations. Mr. Iantosca holds an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and an International MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and an Electronic Engineering diploma from the GTE Sylvania Technical School.

 

 

Frederick JorgensonFrederick Jorgenson - Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

Frederick Jorgenson is Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of AuthenTec. With more than 15 fifteen years of diverse experience in multi-billion dollar corporations as well as in technology start-up environments, Mr. Jorgenson has been responsible for corporate law, business development, and technology licensing, and has structured and negotiated agreements with cumulative values well in excess of $1 billion. Prior to joining AuthenTec, Mr. Jorgenson was a Senior Counsel at the corporate headquarters of Raytheon Company. Mr. Jorgenson was also the CEO at Mears Technologies, a semiconductor technology start-up company. In other corporate roles, he was Assistant General Counsel at a $2+ billion subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited, and at Harris Corporation Mr. Jorgenson was responsible for intellectual property business strategy and licensing for several business units. Early in his career, he was an attorney with a regional law firm that later merged into Alston & Bird, LLP. Mr. Jorgenson holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University and a Juris Doctor, with Honors, from Florida State University.

 

 

Peter SherlockPeter Sherlock - Vice President of Product Development

Peter Sherlock is the Vice President of Product Development for AuthenTec. Mr. Sherlock is responsible for engineering, including both silicon and software development. Prior to joining AuthenTec in February 1999, Mr. Sherlock was the Director of the Raleigh (NC) Design Center for Integrated Device Technologies (IDT) where he led his team in the development of highly complex circuits including massive parallel processing, 2D and 3D graphics acceleration, DVD playback, HDTV MPEG 2 decode and video acceleration. Mr. Sherlock came to IDT from the venture backed simulation company IVEX Corporation (Atlanta and England), where he was the Senior Vice President for Business Development, a position he was promoted to after serving as the Vice President of Operations. Prior to joining IVEX in 1977, Mr. Sherlock was the Manager of Real Time Visual Simulation Systems at Ferranti Computer Systems Ltd. in England. Mr. Sherlock holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University at Salford, UK.

 

 

Art StewartArt Stewart - Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Art Stewart is the Vice President of Worldwide Sales for AuthenTec, to which he brings 25 years of experience in the semiconductor and communication industries. Mr. Stewart joined AuthenTec in 2001 and spearheaded the company's leadership in the worldwide wireless communication markets. Prior to joining AuthenTec, Mr. Stewart served in various senior level engineering positions associated with communication system design and development. His broad range of experience includes running a 200 person engineering department at Harris Corporation's Government Systems Division and co-founding a high tech start up company that provided personal security services for college campuses using tracking and location technology. Mr. Stewart holds three patents in communication systems design and semiconductor technology. He received a BSEE from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Florida Institute of Technology.
